My initial
and my two worlds
with parts
red, white,
green and blue.
On the plane,
flying over the atlantic ocean,
I always wonder,
am I going or coming?
Heart
I am struck by two countries.
My heart is in love with both.
The arrow pulls in opposite directions, it hurts…
but it also shines.
My core is crowned with an Aztec headdress from my ancestors.
Within its lower rays, French elements beat; everything blends together.
In my heart pulses a devotion shared by both nations.
It does not ask me to choose:
it simply beats and unites.
Xocolatl
En mi México, el cacao tiene raíces originales
y memoria antigua, estuvo presente en ceremonias,
fue ofrecido a dioses y usado como moneda.
Aún hoy, el chocolate guarda algo de rito:
el calor de la olla de barro,
la espuma que despierta el molinillo
y el recuerdo de manos que lo recogen bajo el sol.
En Francia descubro otra celebración:
chocolates delicados como joyas comestibles,
elaborados con paciencia y técnica.
Deleite rústico, líquido en jarro,
fino o brillante en vitrina…
cada uno despierta un tipo distinto
de fascinación
